The Queen of Indian Dolls
HISTORY:
This ancient art work was originated in the historic Thanjavur of Tamilnadu State, India during King Saraboji's reign during19th century. And later our passionate artisans of Kondapalli Village of Andhra Pradesh state, India excelled to make it and serve all over the world. Eventually these Dolls became the precious heritage of the City Thanjavur and Kondapalli. Locally theses dolls are called as "Thanjavur Thalaiyatti Bommai", "Kondapalli Butta Bomma" and the "Indian Dancing Doll" internationally. Also called as the "Bubble Headed" / Roly-Poly Toy/ Golu Doll, etc.
IMPORTANCE:
The most adorable and most loved handicraft... reflects the greatness of Indian artwork. This historic art craft has been recognized as a Geographical Indication by the Government of India. This master piece is made up of Wood, Paper pulp, Chalk Powder, Tapioca and other natural resources. It works on the principle of centre of gravity and its rhythmic dancing movements steals everybody's hearts. Every Individual Doll is handmade by manual molding, grinding and painting to give a great finish. There is no machinery used and it's a pure handmade anticraft. Our artisans are making this with passion and immense hard work. The oil painting with attractive colors makes the doll most beautiful and clearly reflects the richness, tradition and Indian culture.
WORKING:
The C.G and total weight of the doll is concentrated at its bottom-most point, generating a dance-like continuous movement with slow oscillations. These enigmatic, handcrafted dolls have a cordial and welcoming aura, which can be attributed to the dancing style in which they seem to greet everyone, mainly by shaking their heads. Head shaking is the most striking feature of this doll and moving their body in a continuous, oscillating movement. This is possible because the heads of these dolls are detachable, and are not a part of continuous formation of the doll's body. Generally, these mesmeric dolls manage to elegantly balance themselves because their core weight is concentrated in the bottom-most region of their bodies.

FUN PART:
The Dancing Dolls when tapped on the head, bobs its head in response, which is due to the metal string that links the head of the doll to its stable base.
